IRS PROBLEMS?
Our Idaho Tax Attorneys Provide IRS Help!
Idaho Tax Problem Resolution Law Firm
Our Tax Attorneys Provide Tax Help To People and Small Businesses, Including the Following:
-
Offers in Compromise
(For more information, click on heading)
An
Offer in Compromise is an agreement between a person or business and the
IRS to settle the person's liability for a certain amount. The amount
is based on the persons ability to pay. It is not based on how much
they owe. Offers in
Compromise are complicated. The IRS does not grant them readily.
People and businesses must qualify for an offer and meet rigid criteria.
-
Levy Release
A
levy is a
seizure of assets. Common levy targets are
bank accounts and wages. The effects of a levy can be devastating.
When a levy is placed on a persons paycheck, the person will only
receive a small percentage of their pay. The vast majority of their
check will
go to the IRS to satisfy their liability. Fortunately there is a
procedure, to get a levy released if it creates an
undue hardship. When the levy is released, the person may enter into
an payment agreement or receive
non collectible
status.
-
Non Collectible Status
The Internal Revenue Service recognizes that sometimes people
are simply unable to make payments on their obligation. If a person or
business simply cannot make payments,
they may qualify to be placed in
non collectible
status. So long as their income is not sufficient to make payments
to the IRS, they will not take any steps to collect the liability.
-
Unfiled Tax Returns
Often people fail to file their returns for one reason or another.
Once this happens, it often snowballs and years of returns end up un-filed.
Our office has developed a system to deal with
un-filed
returns. We can obtain information from the IRS showing what was
reported as income. We have an accountant in our office who is an
expert at filing tax returns based on limited information. We can get
the returns done and filed.
-
Innocent Spouse
Many of our clients have IRS liabilities that arose from a
former or current spouse. They may not have had anything to do with
incurring the liability. A business may have failed. A former spouse
might have not paid IRS obligations. A refund might have been
seized for a former spouse's liability. The IRS will collect from whoever is
available and convenient.
The IRS has a program which relieves a
non responsible spouse If you qualify, you won't be held liable for a former or current spouse's
IRS liability.
-
Installment Agreements
In many cases, people simply need time to pay their tax liability.
There are several types of
payment
agreements available to resolve tax liability. The amount you
will pay each month depends on how much you owe, how much your income is and
what your expenses are.
- Appeals
The IRS has
many ways of affecting taxpayers. Taxes may be
assessed. Levy action might occur. Tax Liens may be filed and other
actions might be taken. Almost every IRS action has an Appeal process.
You are entitled to a review of actions taken by the IRS. In some
instances you might be entitled to have a Judge review the action of the
IRS.
These
appeals are tricky and there are pitfalls along the way. But, Appeals may help
to solve your IRS issues.
- Tax Court Representation
When the IRS takes steps against a person or business, the results may be
disastrous. Many IRS actions grant a person the right to go to Court. You are
entitled to a review of actions taken by the IRS by a Judge in many
situations. These Court
Actions are complicated. There are pitfalls along the way. But, they may
help to solve your IRS problems, if handled correctly.
- Tax Penalty Relief
Penalties can create a huge
portion of the amount you owe to the IRS. Fortunately, there is a way
to get rid of penalties. The procedure is called
Penalty Abatement.
If you have reasonable cause to have the penalties abated, you may be able
to get them removed. Removal of penalties will leave a much lower
balance owed to the IRS.
-
Bankruptcy Analysis
It is a little known fact that many taxes
are subject to discharge through Bankruptcy. There are complicated rules about whether
they are subject to discharge. There are many factors that determine
whether they can be discharged in Bankruptcy.
